Summer Fun—Day 71: Go Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is great exercise as well as a thrill for kids and Maryland has many miles of trails to explore.

Biking on trails is much safer than biking on roads because there is no traffic, making it ideal for a family outing.

Mountain biking is an excellent cardio workout that does not put pressure on joints and helps kids work on balance, body awareness and managing risk.

There are many different parks to explore throughout Maryland with bike trails, like Rockburn Skills Park in Elkridge, Patapsco Valley State Park in Halethorpe and Rosaryville State Park in Upper Marlboro.

Trees along the trails protect from the summer sun, and biking off-road means you will be more likely to experience Maryland wildlife.
